The Truth About Bedsheet Brands in India That Nobody Tells You
India has dozens of well-known bedsheet brands. You've seen them in malls, on Amazon, in heavy TV advertising. Bombay Dyeing in those elegant blue boxes. Spaces with its Welspun backing. Trident with hotel-quality claims. Portico with premium pricing.
Here is what the advertising doesn't say: most of India's bedsheet brands don't manufacture anything. They are marketing companies. They design, brand, and distribute. The actual fabric — the yarn, the weaving, the dyeing, the stitching — is done in Panipat, Haryana. In factories like ours. In factories like LNTR.
Luxmi Narayan Tilak Raj (LNTR) has been manufacturing home textiles in Panipat since 1975. In 50 years, we have supplied bedsheets, blankets, comforters, and home linen to wholesalers, distributors, and yes — to the supply chains of brands you recognise from their advertisements.
In 2024, we launched HFI Bedding — our direct-to-consumer online brand. The same manufacturing. The same quality controls. The same fabric. Without the brand premium, without the distributor margin, without the retail markup. Directly to your home or your hotel.
This blog is our honest review of the top bedsheet brands in India — their strengths, their pricing honesty, and what buying from the manufacturer actually means for you. We are not attacking these brands. We are giving you information to make a better decision.

Top Bedsheet Brands in India — Brand by Brand Honest Review
We've evaluated each major brand on fabric quality, pricing honesty (how much you pay vs what you get), availability, and value for money. Our ratings are based on 50 years of manufacturing experience — we know exactly what the fabric costs to make.
India's most recognisable bedding brand. Excellent brand trust, wide availability, distinctive packaging. Quality is genuinely good — their pure cotton and printed ranges hold up well. However, their retail pricing (₹1,200–₹2,500 for a double bed set) includes very significant brand premium. The same 200TC cotton blend fabric costs ₹270–₹350 factory-direct from Panipat. You are paying approximately 60–70% as brand premium. For a gift or retail purchase, the brand value has real worth. For personal or hotel use, you're paying for the box.
Spaces is the consumer brand of Welspun India — one of the world's largest textile manufacturers. This is rare: a brand that is genuinely its own manufacturer. Quality is excellent across their range. Pricing is more honest than most — they have some cost efficiency from scale. Still, retail prices (₹900–₹2,200) include distribution and retail margins that you avoid by buying factory-direct. Their printed collections are genuinely attractive. Main differentiator vs us: they are a large industrial player; we are a 50-year Panipat specialist with more design flexibility and direct pricing.
Trident Group is a major textile manufacturer and exporter — their bedsheet quality is genuine, especially in their pure cotton and satin ranges. They use their manufacturing scale to keep prices more competitive than luxury brands. Their hotel-grade products are well-regarded. Pricing is moderate (₹800–₹1,800). Availability is good online. For premium cotton bedsheets, Trident is a credible choice at retail. Our 250TC Nazrana (₹490) and Ki.No.Ori (₹800) compete directly with their premium tiers at factory-direct pricing.
Portico has built strong premium positioning in India's urban market — their marketing is aspirational, their packaging is luxury-feel, and their fabrics are genuinely soft. However, their pricing (₹1,500–₹3,500 for premium ranges) includes substantial brand markup. Their "hotel quality" claim is accurate — but hotel quality is available from Panipat at ₹350–₹800 per set. Portico's pure cotton ranges are their strongest offering; their printed designs have strong aesthetic appeal. For someone buying a gift at a premium price point where the brand name is the gift, Portico makes sense. For personal use, you're significantly overpaying.
D'Decor is primarily known for furnishing fabrics and has extended into bedding. Their bedsheet range targets the premium design-conscious segment. Quality is good. However, pricing is at the high end (₹1,800–₹4,500) and the bedsheet quality itself is not meaningfully superior to what's available factory-direct — you're paying for design sensibility and the D'Decor brand association. Their curtain and upholstery products are more distinctively their own; bedsheets are more conventional.
Monte Carlo's core strength is woollen and knitwear — their blanket range is genuinely strong, especially their winter heavy blankets. Their bedsheet line is secondary to their main product identity. Pricing is reasonable for a branded product. For blankets, especially winter and mink blankets, Monte Carlo is a credible brand. For bedsheets, they are not the category leader. We manufacture mink blankets, shoddy blankets, and winter blankets of equivalent quality at significantly lower wholesale pricing than Monte Carlo retail.
Signature is well-known in the blanket segment — their double-bed blanket range has a loyal following. Pricing is mid-range. Quality is consistent. They are primarily a blanket brand, not a full bedding brand. For bulk blanket procurement for hotels or wholesale, the Signature pricing model still includes distributor and retail margins that factory-direct from Panipat avoids. Their product range is narrower than what LNTR manufactures — we produce mink, shoddy, polar fleece, acrylic, supersoft, flannel, non-woven, and woolen blankets across all price points.
My Trident and Welspun are among the few genuine large-scale manufacturers who also retail. Their quality is consistently good because they control manufacturing. Pricing is more honest than pure marketing brands. Their weakness: as a massive industrial player, they lack the design flexibility and personal customer service that a specialised Panipat manufacturer offers. Also, their factory gate pricing is still above what you'd pay buying from us directly. For the Indian retail buyer, however, Welspun/Trident offers solid quality at moderate premium.

On a standard double-bed cotton bedsheet set, approximately 35–65% of the retail price you pay is brand premium, distribution cost, and retail margin — not fabric quality. The same yarn, same weave, and same reactive dye process that produces a ₹1,500 branded bedsheet produces our ₹490 Nazrana. The difference is that our name isn't on a TV commercial. That's what you're paying for when you buy branded.
Our Complete Range — The Honest Alternative to Every Brand
Here is what we manufacture at LNTR and sell directly through HFI Bedding — with the brand equivalent each quality competes against:
How to Actually Judge Bedsheet Quality — Beyond Brand Names
Brand name is the worst way to evaluate a bedsheet. Here are the five specifications that actually determine quality:
1. Thread Count (TC) or Fabric Weight (GSM)
Thread count measures weave density for pure cotton (200–250TC is ideal for India — breathable and durable). GSM measures fabric weight for cotton-blend (100–130GSM is the everyday sweet spot). Higher is not always better — 400TC fabrics are heavier, trap heat, and dry slower. For Indian climate, 210–250TC is the honest premium range.
2. Dye Type — Reactive vs Pigment
This is the quality specification that separates durable bedsheets from those that fade after 10 washes. Reactive dyes bond chemically to fibre — colour stays through 50+ washes. Pigment dyes coat the surface — beautiful when new, fading quickly. Ask any supplier: "Is this reactive printed or pigment printed?" All HFI bedsheets are reactive printed.
3. Pre-Shrink Treatment
Bedsheets that shrink after washing either won't fit the mattress or create visible overhang reduction. Pre-shrunk fabric maintains its dimensions. All HFI bedsheets are pre-shrunk at the manufacturing stage.
4. Fibre Composition
Pure cotton (100% cotton) breathes best and gets softer with washing — ideal for summer and sensitive skin. Cotton-polyester blend (60:40) is more durable, wrinkle-resistant, and economical — ideal for everyday use. Both are good depending on your preference. Know what you're buying.
5. Stitching Quality
Double-stitched hems don't fray. Pillow covers with quality closures don't slip. These are manufacturing details that brand names don't guarantee — they happen at the factory level. At LNTR, double-stitched hems and quality pillow closures are standard across all quality tiers.
| Quality Spec | What to Look For | Red Flag |
|---|---|---|
| Thread Count / GSM | 200–250TC or 100–130GSM for daily use | 400TC+ claims (often misleading multi-pick weaves) |
| Dye Type | "Reactive printed" — stated on packaging | No dye type mentioned = likely pigment |
| Shrink Treatment | "Pre-shrunk" stated on label | No mention = likely to shrink |
| Fabric Composition | Stated percentage (e.g., 60% cotton, 40% poly) | "Cotton feel" without percentage = likely low cotton % |
| Stitching | Double-stitched hems, neat pillow closure | Single stitching, open-end pillow covers |

What Customers Say After Switching from Brands to Factory Direct
I used to buy Bombay Dyeing double-bed sets at ₹1,499 from the mall. Found HFI after searching for alternatives and ordered the Gulzar 210TC at ₹659. Honestly, I cannot feel any difference in quality. The print is sharper, the fabric feels softer, and it's still looking new after 12 washes. Never buying branded again.
Deepa Krishnamurthy Chennai · Switched from Bombay Dyeing Gulzar 210TC · ₹659Run a 40-room heritage hotel in Rajasthan. Was buying Trident bedsheets at ₹1,800 per set. Called Harsh at the number on this site — he recommended Nazrana 250TC at ₹490. Three months of daily commercial laundering and the quality is identical. Saving ₹52,000 on this one linen refresh compared to branded. This is a no-brainer.
Vikram Shekhawat Rajasthan · Hotel Owner Nazrana 250TC · 120 setsI'm a reseller on an e-commerce platform. Was sourcing from Spaces at distributor pricing — margins were 25–30%. Switched to HFI factory direct. Same 210TC quality, margins are now 55–65%. My product ratings actually improved because the fabric is better at this price. Wish I'd found LNTR 3 years earlier.
Saurav Agarwal Mumbai · E-commerce Reseller Gulzar + Uphar · WholesaleMy family has been loyal to Portico for 8 years. I decided to test HFI's Ki.No.Ori Japanese 250TC against my current Portico set. Honestly, the Ki.No.Ori feels smoother. Portico costs me ₹2,299. Ki.No.Ori from HFI costs ₹800. I genuinely cannot justify paying ₹1,500 extra for the box anymore.
