Spaces is the consumer brand of Welspun India — one of the world's largest textile manufacturers. This is rare: a brand that is genuinely its own manufacturer. Trident Group is a major textile manufacturer and exporter — their bedsheet quality is genuine, especially in their pure cotton and satin ranges. How to Actually Judge Bedsheet Quality — Beyond Brand Names
Brand name is the worst way to evaluate a bedsheet. Here are the five specifications that actually determine quality:
1. Thread Count (TC) or Fabric Weight (GSM)
Thread count measures weave density for pure cotton (200–250TC is ideal for India — breathable and durable). GSM measures fabric weight for cotton-blend (100–130GSM is the everyday sweet spot). Higher is not always better — 400TC fabrics are heavier, trap heat, and dry slower. For Indian climate, 210–250TC is the honest premium range.
2. Dye Type — Reactive vs Pigment
This is the quality specification that separates durable bedsheets from those that fade after 10 washes. Reactive dyes bond chemically to fibre — colour stays through 50+ washes. Pigment dyes coat the surface — beautiful when new, fading quickly. Ask any supplier: "Is this reactive printed or pigment printed?" All HFI bedsheets are reactive printed.
3. Pre-Shrink Treatment
Bedsheets that shrink after washing either won't fit the mattress or create visible overhang reduction. Pre-shrunk fabric maintains its dimensions. All HFI bedsheets are pre-shrunk at the manufacturing stage.
4. Fibre Composition
Pure cotton (100% cotton) breathes best and gets softer with washing — ideal for summer and sensitive skin. Cotton-polyester blend (60:40) is more durable, wrinkle-resistant, and economical — ideal for everyday use. Both are good depending on your preference. Know what you're buying.
5. Stitching Quality
